764 miles planned with stops and fuel
TrojanGrad used Claude Cowork for a 764-mile drive to National Harbor, Maryland. Claude planned rest stops, food, traffic where the lane assistant does not work, and where it paid to buy fuel.

What was done
On 15 September 2026 u/TrojanGrad writes in r/ClaudeAI that the week before they drove to National Harbor, Maryland, 764 miles, and used Claude for the whole plan. Claude planned rest stops and places to eat, warned about traffic where the lane-follow assistant does not work, and said where fuel was cheaper. One suggestion was to fill up before the state line, even with half a tank, because fuel in Virginia was going to be expensive.
How it went
They drove the 764 miles in one day. He writes that he was less tired than after 180-mile drives, and that Claude insisted on some stops even when they did not feel tired.
Worth knowing
The post does not give the fuel price in dollars, only that it was higher in Virginia. A model can be wrong about closed stations and roadworks. Check the route yourself the same day.
How to do it
- Say the start, the destination, the date and how long you want to drive between stops.
- Ask for stops, food and where you should buy fuel, with the reason.
- Check the route against a map the same day. Do not let the agent book lodging unless you ask.
Try it with Claude Cowork
Plan the drive from [start] to [destination] on [date], about [distance]. Include stops, food and where I should buy fuel, and say why. Do not book anything. I will check the route against a map myself.
Replace text in brackets with your own.
Done when. You have a route you have checked on a map, and nothing has been booked.
Safety rule. The agent does not book. You check the road and the fuel the same day.
