A bear case from the footnotes, he trimmed

The author has Claude Code pull a 10-K and other filings and write a note he reads. A bear case found a liability in the footnotes. He did not sell, but he trimmed.

This is a public report, not advice from Skatteetaten, NAV, Altinn or an accountant. Check figures, deadlines and decisions against the original.

What was done

On 10 March 2026 the author writes in r/ClaudeCode that he used to download a 10-K on a Friday night and maybe skimmed the first 20 pages. He started using Claude Code a few weeks ago. He does not upload the file. Claude Code pulls 10-Ks, transcripts and SEC filings through web search when he says which company and what he wants to know. He reads the note and decides whether he would buy. It cites the filings, so he can check what feels wrong. He has caught it in mistakes. He asked for a bear case on something he has held for months. It went into the footnotes and pulled out a liability he had skipped. He did not sell, but he trimmed. The time now goes to thinking, not to copying figures into Google Sheets.

How it went

He trimmed the position and kept the rest. The company is not named.

Worth knowing

He writes that he has caught the agent in mistakes, without listing them. The liability is not named. The post links to an outside guide. Check the original. This is not investment advice.

How to do it

  1. Say which company and what you want to know. Ask it to pull the filings and show the source.
  2. Read the note against the source. Ask for a bear case if you already hold the shares.
  3. Do not buy or sell until you say yes. Decide yourself whether to trim.

Try it with Claude Code

Pull the filings for [company] and write a note on [question], with a source for each point. Also write a bear case. Do not buy and do not sell until I say yes.

Replace text in brackets with your own.

Done when. The note has been read against the sources, and no order has been placed unless you said yes.

Safety rule. No buy or sell happens until you say yes.
