What was done
On 18 October 2026 Sanju (@spikeysanju) writes that he used Claude Code on his Mi TV. The profile says Chennai. He removed 29 apps: Xiaomi telemetry, ads, PatchWall and the store demo mode. He then built a screensaver with his own wallpapers, rotating quotes, local weather and AI news, controlled with the remote.
How it went
He writes that the TV shows the new screensaver. The post does not say the manufacturer approved the change, and it does not say what happens on a software update.
Worth knowing
The post does not say how the apps were removed. The steps below are a cautious way to ask for a list, not a reproduction of his method. Removing system apps can leave a TV unusable.
How to do it
- Ask the agent to list the apps it wants to remove, by name. Do not let it delete anything yet.
- Read the list. Take out apps you do not recognise, and apps the TV needs in order to start.
- Only after you have agreed to a named subset may the agent remove those apps. Keep a way to reset the device before you start.
Try it with Claude Code
List the apps on [device] that you believe are telemetry, ads or a demo. Write the name of each one. Do not delete anything. I will read the list and say which, if any, you may remove.
Replace text in brackets with your own.
Done when. You have a named list, and nothing is deleted until you have approved those exact names.
Safety rule. No deletion until you have read the list. Do not remove apps you cannot name.
