Summarise a letter from NAV and see what you need to do
Paste a NAV letter into Claude, without your national identity number, and get a short summary of what the letter actually asks you to do. The decision is still what the original says.

This is a way of working from the editors, not advice from Skatteetaten, NAV, Altinn or an accountant. Check figures, deadlines and decisions against the original.
How to do it
- 1
Copy the letter. Remove your national identity number, account number and other personal details you do not need in order to understand it.
- 2
Ask for three things: what the letter is about, what NAV asks you to do, and which dates are actually written in the text.
- 3
Ask the assistant to separate what the letter says from what is an interpretation. Interpretations should be marked.
- 4
Check the deadline and case number against the original, not against the summary.
- 5
Sign in at nav.no if you need to send something or appeal, and use the channel the letter points to. If you are unsure of your rights, ask NAV.
Example prompt
Example prompt
Here is a letter from NAV, the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration. Personal details have been removed. [Paste the letter] Reply with: 1. A summary of at most eight sentences. 2. A list of actions the letter asks me to take. 3. Every date and deadline written in the text. Do not add deadlines that are not there. 4. Words and abbreviations I should have explained. Mark clearly anything that is your interpretation rather than something the letter says directly.
